Platform basics: fee overview

At Knaken we believe it is important to be as transparent as possible to our customers about the costs that are charged. It is possible to view these costs with every purchase or sale. See below for an explanation of our deposit, trading and withdrawal fees.

Transaction costs

The transaction costs only apply if you use a payment provider when placing your order.
Knaken supports multiple payment methods such as iDeal with which you can immediately buy crypto or top up your Euro balance. These so-called payment providers charge transaction costs.

Check our costs page for an overview of the transaction costs charged by the payment providers.

It is also possible to make a bank transfer by means of a unique code that is linked to your account. With this code you can also periodically buy crypto via an automatic transfer. Want to know more about periodically buying crypto? Read our blog here.

Platform costs

A small fee is charged for using our platform. This is necessary to cover the costs of facilitating the order. This is a standard rate and can also be found in our cost overview.
[]Trading Fees
We determine the purchase and sale price based on bid and ask prices. The bid price indicates the highest price a buyer is willing to pay at that moment. The ask price indicates the lowest price a seller is willing to sell for. These prices together form the order book. When the bid and ask prices are apart (spread) it is possible that you buy slightly above the market price and sell below the market price. Want to know more about order books and slippage? Read our blog.

For buying and selling crypto you pay a standard amount (platform fee) and a percentage fee (crunch fee) on the purchase or sale amount.

View the trading costs on our costs page.

Kickback

As Family Members you do not pay a Knaken fee. When placing an order you first pay the full amount. If your order is successful, you will receive the kickback. The Knaken fee that was paid for the execution of the order will then be refunded to your account. Want to read more about Knaken Family? Read our blog here.

Crypto withdrawal fees

For crypto withdrawals you pay transaction costs to the miners/validators of the relevant blockchain. These costs can vary per day/hour and are included in the price. If you opt for emergency admission, these costs will be increased. The transaction costs are deducted from the crypto you withdraw.
