Knaken is officially registered with De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) as a cryptocurrency service provider. This means that we must comply with Dutch regulations, and therefore, it is necessary to verify your account.

You can make your first purchase on Knaken without verification, but for subsequent actions, you will need a verified account. We require proof of your identity and residential address for this process.

Verifying Your Identity

You can verify your identity in two ways: through the app or the web portal.

Verification in the Knaken App

Note: Make sure you grant access to your camera and preferably location in the app settings.

Open the Knaken app and log in if you haven't already done so. Then, click on "Open verifications" and select "Verify Identity." You will be asked to share your location. Choose to do so or select "I prefer not to" if you do not wish to share your location.

Follow the instructions on your screen. You will need to take a selfie and a photo of one of the following documents:

• Your passport
• Your ID card
• Your driver's license
• Your residence permit

Ensure that the text on the documents is legible.

Your application is now under review. We will check the documents as soon as possible and send you an email once this is done.

Verification in the Knaken Web Portal

Log in to our website using your laptop or tablet. Once logged in, select "Verification" on the left side of the screen. You will see the following page:

Scan the QR code using your phone's camera and follow the instructions on your phone screen. You will need to take a selfie and a photo of one of the following documents:

• Your passport
• Your ID card
• Your driver's license
• Your residence permit

Ensure that the text on the documents is legible.

Your application is now under review. We will check the documents as soon as possible and send you an email once this is done.

Verifying Your Residential Address

You can verify your address at Knaken using three methods. The easiest way is to use iDIN.

Verifying Address with iDIN

iDIN is a secure and reliable service provided by Dutch banks that allows us to automatically verify your address. However, it is possible that your bank has a different registered address than what you provided to us. In such cases, you will need to verify your address using a different method.

Verifying Residential Address with a Physical Document

You will need a physical document dated within the last three months. The document must be from an official institution or a company that has verified your identity.

Examples of documents you can use include:

• Government letter
• Utility bill
• Phone bill
• Bank letter

The document should not be in an envelope, and the sender with the date must be visible.

Verifying Residential Address with a Digital Document

We also offer the option to verify your address using a PDF file dated within the last three months.

Please note: This can currently be done only through the web portal.

The document must be from an official institution or a company that has verified your identity.

Examples of PDFs you can use include:

• Bank statement
• Government message
• Utility bill
• Phone bill
